Web Developer in Wales — Cloud Wales

Cloud Wales is a freelance web developer based in Ceredigion, Wales. Since 1999 I've worked as a web app developer building, hosting and supporting bespoke web applications, websites and custom software for businesses and government organisations across the UK and around the world. Whether you need a CRM, a client portal or a one-off platform, you'll be working with one web developer end-to-end — no offshoring, no large-agency overhead, and a single point of contact from kick-off to launch.

Web app developer for businesses across Wales and the UK

Most projects fall into one of three buckets. Custom web applications: CRM systems, monitoring & evaluation tools, project trackers, client service portals, and line-of-business software tailored to how your team actually works. Public websites and brochure sites: marketing pages, blogs, portfolios — fast, accessible, mobile-first, and easy to update. Long-running platforms: integrations with payment providers, mailing systems, third-party APIs, and bespoke administration tools that quietly run the business behind the scenes.

Technology stack

I work primarily with Go for backend services, Vue 3 for frontends, and Postgres as the database of record. Where it suits the project I also use Laravel (PHP), Ruby on Rails, and Python — chosen to match the team you'll inherit the code from rather than imposed for novelty. Hosting is on DigitalOcean and Hetzner, deployments are containerised with Docker, and TLS is automated with Caddy and Let's Encrypt.

Where I work

Based in Ceredigion on the west coast of Wales, I work remotely with clients across Wales, the rest of the UK, and internationally. Local clients in Aberystwyth, Cardigan, Lampeter and Cardiff are welcome for in-person kick-offs; everywhere else, projects run by video call. Most engagements start with a short conversation about the problem you're trying to solve, followed by a fixed-scope discovery phase, then a build with regular check-ins. To start a project, request a quote, or just talk through an idea, get in touch via the contact page or email info@cloud-wales.co.uk.
